X Lists: The Fastest Way to Find People to Reply To

You waste time on X finding people to reply to. You scroll, you get pulled into random posts, and 20 minutes are gone. X Lists fix that.

What an X List actually is

An X List is a group of accounts you pick. When you open it, you see only their posts. No algorithm feed. No ads. No noise from people you do not care about.

You do not have to follow an account to add it to a List. Adding someone to a private List does not notify them. So you can watch anyone quietly.

Think of a List as a clean room. Only the accounts that matter to your growth get in.

Why this beats scrolling your main feed

Replies are still the fastest way to grow a small account. Our most-read post, The X Reply Guy Method, explains why. But the method has one weak point. Finding the right posts to reply to takes too long.

A List solves that. You open one feed. Every post in it comes from an account worth your reply. You skip the search. You start typing.

Here is the time math. Say you reply to 10 accounts a day. Without a List, you hunt for each one. With a List, they are already lined up. You save maybe 15 minutes a day. That is over an hour a week back in your pocket.

Build your first List in five minutes

Do this once and use it for months.

  1. Open X. Tap your profile picture, then Lists.
  2. Tap New List. Give it a plain name like "Reply targets".
  3. Set it to Private so no one gets notified.
  4. Add 15 to 30 accounts in your niche. Mix big accounts and mid-size ones.
  5. Pin the List so it sits at the top of your Lists page.

That is it. You now have a feed built only from people you want to reach.

One tip on who to add. Big accounts give you reach when your reply lands. Mid-size accounts (say 5,000 to 50,000 followers) reply back more often. You want both. Our guide on how to reply to big accounts covers the reply itself.

Use the List, do not just make it

Most people build a List once and forget it. Do not be most people.

Open your List first thing, before your main feed pulls you in. Reply to three or four fresh posts. Keep each reply short and useful. Add one real thought, not just "great post".

Timing helps too. A reply lands best when the post is new and still climbing. That is why we wrote about the first 30 minutes after posting. Check your List often and you catch posts while they are fresh.

You can also search inside a List. Open it, use the search box, and type a word like "hiring" or "pricing". X then shows only posts from List members that match. It is a fast way to find the exact conversation you can add to.

X Lists for more than replies

One List is a good start. A few more make the whole app calmer.

  • A private "Competitors" List. Check it weekly. See what they launch before your main feed does.
  • A private "Customers" List. Watch what your buyers post, even when they do not tag you.
  • A public "Best in my niche" List. Public Lists show on your profile and can pull a few follows on their own.

You can pin up to 10 Lists, so keep the ones you use most at the top.

Where PostOwl fits

Lists help you find the reply. Writing 10 good replies a day is the other half. That part is slow when you are busy.

PostOwl learns your voice from posts you already wrote. Then it drafts replies that sound like you, not like a bot. It has a Chrome extension, so you can reply fast right where you read. You still pick and edit every reply. You just skip the blank page.

Pair a tight List with quick drafts and your daily reply routine can drop from an hour to about 15 minutes.

The one thing to do today

Build one Private List called "Reply targets". Add 20 accounts in your niche. Open it tomorrow morning and reply to four posts before you touch your main feed.

Do that for two weeks and you will feel the change. Fewer minutes lost. More replies that people actually see.
